Enhanced Electrochromic Properties of Nanocrystalline Molybdenum Oxide Films Modified by Dopamine

Molybdenum oxide (MoO3) electrochromic (EC) materials have not been widely used at present due to relatively poor performance and inadequate research. In order enhance the EC properties of MoO3 achieve purpose practical use, modified nanocrystalline films were fabricated by a cheap simple complexation-assisted sol–gel method followed annealing 300 °C. this method, dopamine (DA) is as structure-directing agent added amount DA has great influence on structure morphology and, thus, electrochemical films. Different from pure polycrystalline film, film with suitable possesses distinctive nanocrystal-embedded amorphous structure, can synergy effects through combining advantages both phases nanocrystalline. Therefore, compared shows much higher in terms optical contrast, coloration efficiency, switching speed, cycling stability. Moreover, complementary type device dual active layers (the polyaniline) was tested, results demonstrate potential application film.
